      DRESDEN, Germany -- French speedskater Thibaut Fauconnet claimed gold in the men's 500 meters at the short track World Cup on Saturday, finishing one hundredth of a second ahead of Simon Cho to cut his gap in the standings behind the American.

      Fauconnet won in 41.392 seconds, with Cho following in 41.406 and another American, Travis Jayner, third in 42.834.

      Cho leads the 500 standings after seven of eight events with 2,978 points, followed by Fauconnet with 2,635 and China's Jialiang Han with 2,134.

      China's Xianwei Liu won the 1,500 in 2 minutes, 16.962 seconds, ahead of South Korea's Lee Ho-suk in 2:17.176, with Michael Gilday of Canada third in 2:17.378.

      Maxime Chataignier leads the 1,500 points with 2,170, ahead of China's Weilong Song with 2,088 and South Korea's Jinkyu Noh with 2,035.

      This article tests the hypothesis that, unlike other consumer practices, daily mobility practices are relatively unrelated to environmental attitudes and values. To achieve this, we compare the statistical trends observed in a general population survey and a body of interviews carried out with a sub-population particularly constrained in its car use. After a presentation of data from the Lifestyles and Environment Survey, we define the indicators available to evaluate our hypotheses - environmental attitude indicators from the New Environmental Paradigm Scale (NEPS)—but also car use. Next, we present the results of our statistical analyses, first using descriptive statistics and then using models, all other things being equal. The results are discussed in the light of the qualitative survey conducted in Loire-Atlantique among twenty-three lower-class households living in peri-urban or rural areas.
