Events that happened on March 25
1898 – Federico Isabelo Abaya, in the so-called Ikkis ti Candon (Cry of Candon), fought the Spanish colonial government in Candon, Ilocos Sur, and liberated the town.
1945 – Start of amphibious landings of American forces in the Philippines, which is a turning point in the Pacific war during World War II.
1986 – A provisional constitution was put into effect by virtue of Proclamation No. 3 issued by Corazon C. Aquino. She also abolished the Batasang Pambansa (Legislative Assembly).
1990 – The international airport at Laoag City, Ilocos Norte was reopened. It was ordered closed by the Aquino government after the EDSA Revolt to bar any attempt of President Ferdinand Marcos’ return to the Philippines.
