Vishal Veeru Devgan (born 2 April ), known professionally as Ajay Devgn, is an Indian actor, film director, and producer. One of the most prolific actors of Hindi cinema, Devgn has appeared in over films and has won numerous accolades, including four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards. In , he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri, the country's fourth-highest civilian honour.[2]
Devgn emerged a star with his film debut, the action romance Phool Aur Kaante ().[3] He had further action film roles in Vijaypath (), Dilwale (), Jaan (), Major Saab () and Kachche Dhaage () and romantic roles in Ishq (), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha () and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam ().[4] Devgn's dramatic performance in Zakhm () earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor.[5]

Vindu Dara Singh recently reminisced about a memorable incident involving himself and Ajay Devgn. He recounted a day when their group of friends was stopped by the police while attempting to purchase drinks. The situation turned serious when the police found what they believed to be 'weapons' in the car's boot. Despite Vindu's explanation that these were props for a film Veeru Devgan, Ajay's father, was working on, they were taken to the police station. During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Vindu shared the details of the event. He described how they were arrested during a Holi party while returning from a wine shop in Bandra. The police, suspicious of their intentions, detained them until they contacted Randhawa's son, a wrestler, who vouched for their innocence.
