  • List of Love & Hip Hop: New York cast members

Love & Hip Hop: New York (originally titled Love & Hip Hop) is the original installment of the Love & Hip Hopreality television franchise on VH1. The series premiered on March 6, 2011, and chronicles the lives of people involved with hip hop music in New York City (and nearby areas, including New Jersey, and Yonkers).

The series has a large ensemble cast, with leading cast members in the opening credits, and a sprawling supporting cast, who are credited as "additional cast" or "featured" in the show's end credits. These secondary cast members appear in green screen confessional segments and (for the most part) have the same amount of screen time and storyline focus as the show's main cast members. Over the years, several supporting cast members have been upgraded to lead.

Starrah: From the Writers’ Room to the Booth

    WHO IS STARRAH?

She may be best known for the hits she’s co-written for other artists, but Starrah is a force to be reckoned with by herself. The Delaware artist born Brittany Hazzard has spent the last decade making music of her own, featuring on other artists’ tracks, and writing some of the biggest hit songs in recent memory. Three of them have topped the Billboard Hot 100: Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix with Beyoncé; Camilo Cabello and Young Thug’s “Havana”; and Maroon 5 and Cardi B’s “Girls Like You”. That said, she’s developed a strong reputation in her own right as a rapper and singer.

So how did Starrah develop such a gift for music and for songwriting, especially for catchy melodies and hooks? Let’s take a deep dive into how she got to where she is today, her music and songwriting, and what she’s got planned for her own career as lead artist.

Terence Trent D'Arby achieved infamy before achieving fame,. He claimed that his 1987 debut album, "Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent d'Arby," would be more important than "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." It wasn't, but it did sell well, spawning a U.S. No. 1 in the form of the bubbly Prince redux "Wishing Well." Producing his own albums to ever-diminishing returns in the years following, he announced in 2001 that he was legally changing his name to Sananda Maitreya based off of a series of dreams he had. He is still recording to this day, and in 2015, released an album called "The Rise Of The Zugebrian Time Lords" — so there ya go.
