Rhinebeck couple recognized for latest book: 'Before She Was Harriet'
A Rhinebeck couple who wrote and illustrated a book about a young Harriet Tubman before she led slaves to freedom has been recognized for their work.
Author Lesa Cline-Ransome and illustrator James E. Ransome have been honored with a Christopher Award for “Before She Was Harriet,” (Holiday House Publishing).
BLACK HISTORY: 1st African-American female judge 'showed the strength of the subtle'
It is one of 12 books for adults and young people by 19 authors and illustrators to be celebrated May 17 at the 69th annual Christopher Awards in New York, according to a written release.
