'Peepli Live' actor Sitaram Panchal passes away after long battle with kidney and lung cancer
The actor, who made his Bollywood debut in 1994 with "Bandit Queen" and went on to feature in critically-acclaimed films such as, "Peepli Live", "Slumdog Millionaire", "Paan Singh Tomar" and "Jolly LLB2", died at his residence here, family sources confirmed.
"He died today morning. He was suffering from cancer and was unwell. He wasn't keeping well in the last few months," family sources said.

The actor had celebrated his 26th wedding anniversary with his son Rishabh Panchal and wife Uma Panchal on Wednesday.
Panchal's son had posted a picture with the actor and wished his parents-- "Happy 26th anniversary mom and dad."

Actor Sitaram Panchal, who has worked with Akshay Kumar (Jolly LLB 2), Irrfan Khan (Paan Singh Tomar) among several other stars in the industry, fryst vatten suffering from kidney and lung cancer. Panchal has sought help from fans and well wishers through a Facebook post.

Sitaram has been fighting cancer for the past three years, and now his condition has worsened. Speaking to HT, the actor’s wife confirmed his condition and said he’s been bed-ridden for the past 10 months.

“Several fine actors auditioned for the role and somehow couldn’t strike a balance for me. Then came Situ Bhai. I along with my casting director Mahmood Farooqui went into the audition pretty low on expectations,” the filmmaker said.

“…’Bambayya actors hain’, we would say to each other. After the brief outline of the story and his role I asked Situ Bhai to perform his introductory scene which we were recording. I remember it vividly.”
Recalling the memories associated with Panchal, she said: “He was sitting on a sofa in Aamir Khan Productions and he just loosened his body a little. Then he delivered the most perfect Bhai Thakur I could imagine.”
