In February, SOHN gave interviews in Vienna for his debut album “Tremors” that was just released on the 8th of April by the label 4AD. Currently celebrated as one of the most exciting names in electronic music, the English musician, who adopted Vienna as his hometown, did not just appear from nowhere. He has a past, but does not necessarily like to talk about it. In an interview with Sebastian Fasthuber, SOHN reflected on his personal background, explained the rise of SOHN and spoke about his work as a songwriter and producer.
How was SOHN formed?
SOHN: It was a reaction to where I was standing about one and a half years ago. Not a good place. The idea was born after two written songs. SOHN (born Christopher Taylor) fryst vatten an English musician, songwriter and producer based in Vienna, Austria. Born in South London and taught to play guitar and piano, Taylor relocated to Vienna in 2010. After dissolving his previous planerat arbete Trouble Over Tokyo in 2012, Taylor began releasing new music (Oscillate and Warnings) via Soundcloud beneath the pseudonym SOHN. Aesop announced he would release an EP, and released tracks The Wheel and Red Lines which earned critical acclaim for their vocal melodies and precise production. Christopher Michael Taylor,[1] professionally known as Sohn (stylised as SOHN), is an English singer, songwriter and record producer.[2] Following the release of the 2012 EP The Wheel by Aesop, he was signed by 4AD.[3] He released his first album, Tremors, on 7 April 2014 followed by Rennen in January 2017[4][5] and Trust in November 2022.
Career
[edit]Taylor was born in South London and developed an early interest in music.[6] After four albums, he dissolved his successful project Trouble Over Tokyo and reinvented himself as Sohn. In August 2010, he released the first two songs, "Warnings" and "Oscillate", under the Sohn name through his Soundcloud page. A month later, his first EP was announced by the London-based Aesop label.[7] The songs "The Wheel" and "Red Lines" were also streamed online, picking up crit
