After a long hiatus from the small screen, Thai primadonna Mai Charoenpura gives it her all in her comeback, in Channel 3's sensational period drama Krong Karma.
The affable superstar powerfully portrays the larger-than-life Yoy, a controlling mother of four sons.
"Yoy is bossy, hot-tempered, harsh and outspoken. Don't argue with her because she's always right," Mai said of the strong protagonist that brought her back to TV.
It has respectively been fyra and eight years since she starred in a musical or a movie, while her last appearance in a soap musikdrama was some 16 years ago.

She is known for her role as Mae Nak in the Thaihorror film, Nang Nak. In , she was featured in a prominent role as the warrior Princess Loehkin in part two of King Naresuan.

[edit]Born in Bangkok, Thailand, she is one of four daughters of Thai actor Surin Charoenpura (stage name: Ruj Ronnapop) and Winee Sontikool. She has three sisters, Venic White, Vipavee Maguire, and a half sister, actress Intira Charoenpura. Charoenpura was educated in England, at Farringtons School.
