“It’s a årstid of extraordinary range,” said Studio Artistic Director David Muse. “We’ve got David Auburn’s recent Broadway hit, starring DC stalwarts Holly Twyford and Kate Eastwood Norris; Bruce Norris’s provokativ look at sex offenders who have served their sentences; a sharp and playful look at failing public school systems; a world premiere about mental health interventions for the police force told from the point of view of an actor ansträngande to man sure the police take the work seriously.

Founded in 1978, The Studio Theatre is Washington's premiere stage for the best in contemporary theatre. Led by Founding Artistic Director Joy Zinoman, The Studio Theatre has built a national reputation for the production of area premieres of bold American and European works, innovative revivals and arresting performance art. I hope your last year has been as memorable as ours at Studio. From the razor-sharp wit of crowd-pleaser Love, Love, Love to the infectious joy of Fat Ham, this season has been full of winners. Studio continues to stand as an advocate for uncompromising contemporary artists and as a home for plays that are provocative, courageous, unexpected, meaty, irreverent, hilarious, tragic.
We don’t intend to let the momentum flag next year, which holds an array of surprises for even our most seasoned audiences in a season of buzzworthy plays from today’s hot writers. Our production of Paradise Blue by Studio favorite Dominique Morisseau (Pipeline) will transform the Victor Shargai Theatre into a Detroit jazz club from the fifties. And you will be astonished by the powerhouse performances of two DC acting legends, Kate Eastwood Norris and Holly Twyford, as we travel back to Summer, 1976 by David Auburn (Proof).
